It’s not over yet.

“How are you?” seems to be the number one question asked ever since I came home from my time in Albania. I usually answer with the proper phrase that Albanians who spoke English were taught to say: “I’m fine, thanks.” Honesty time: I’m not fine. I’m broken and sad. I miss my team. I miss the relationships I cultivated while on the field. I miss the ignorance and apathy I used to be able to live in comfortably (yeah, I know that that’s not the best thing to miss). I feel like I have just gone through a breakup or lost a close friend (I might be...

We Are All Living in a Tent

“(1) For we know that is the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, and eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. (2) Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, (3) because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. (4) For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened because we do not wish to be unclothed, but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed by life.” -2 Corinthians 5:1-4   “Home is where the heart is”. Flooded

it’s not always a bad thing   I have conquered training camp! These past five days have completely blown me away. My teammates and leaders have become some of my best friends already….and we haven’t even left yet.   Sitting in the airport, I am reminded of all that has happened these past few days. When we arrived at camp on Friday, we all were able to settle into our tents and hang out. That ended up being an adventure. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday were super rainy. All of the tents flooded. It turned out to be the best thing that could happen. We were all...

Unexpected Freedom

Everything figured out. No fear, shame, or sadness. Smile, game face on. But this doesn’t last long. Your boat gets wrecked. Everything falls apart, but oddly feels to be falling into place. Vulnerable. Walls shattered. Tears shed. Healing beginning. The first few days of training camp I was frustrated with myself. I came into this thinking I had a great relationship with the Lord. The more it hit me that I didn’t have this perfect relationship, I felt weak and I wanted to pull away. After a few sessions I realized I had God in a small box that I wanted to control when I let him...
