The Two Little Hearts that Broke Mine

During our first week here in India, we spent our days going to this home for women who had been rescued from sex trafficking (there were also these two boys of one of the women). The first time we stepped foot into the home it was evident that there was no life or joy radiating amidst those walls. The 8 of us missionaries are not and will not be able to ever express the love that comes from knowing and trusting in the name of Jesus Christ. However, we as christians have that joy inside of us, and by loving these women, we were able let our love mirror the love of our Abba, daddy. At the end...

A Taste of India

On Friday, we had the honor of being invited to have a meal with a local Christian family. The previous night, we had prayed over the grandmother of the same family, and the Lord healed her arthritis in her leg. Now, we were getting a chance to sit down and have a meal with them. Our team is constantly learning new cultural rules that are foreign and sometimes catch us by surprise. On this night in particular we learned a very important fact about Indian dining: there is no such thing as a small portion. To understand what I mean, it is important to know that Josh, one of the beloved...

Arrival in India

Hey everyone!   My co-leader, Jeremy, and I are so excited to say that team made it to India! We started our first two days resting and getting accustom to the culture.  These past 3 days, we have spent our mornings going to a home that houses women who come out of the sex trade.  There, we teach the women English, tell bible stories, and sing songs.  We then have the afternoon off due to the hot weather.  We normally find ourselves resting and spending time with the Lord.  In the even going into the night, we do house visits.  We have been entering homes...

The Art of Eating with Your Hands

In India, we eat with our hands. This sounds like a pretty simple task. After all, most babies first learn to eat with their hands until they are eventually upgraded to a fork (or maybe chopsticks). Be warned, as our team would now tell you, this is not easily done. In fact, there is quite a trick to it. The first priority is that you must always eat with your right hand. Eating with your left hand is considered rude, unsanitary, and even offensive. Now, our hands are simply not used to holding scolding foods for any periods of time, so especially when dealing with rice-based dishes, it is essential...

About Me

Passport is the Adventures in Missions’ program for college-age (18-22 years old) individuals. It is, as the name implies, not just an ends but a means to more. Passporters spend 1-3 months on the field, where they secure their identity in Christ, get equipped and grow empowered to advance God’s kingdom. In addition to sharing and living out the gospel in community, Passporters may be presented with the opportunity to seek justice on behalf of orphans, the poor, and the trafficked.   For more information, visit us on our website at adventures.org/passport and follow #advpassport...
