Expect the Unexpected

On Sunday, my team and I went to a small church here in Korat. When we got there, we were asked to sing a song, so we winged it and sang How Great is Our God (and may I say, we did pretty good for literally last minute preparation). Yoyo, our host, spoke on expecting the unexpected. When leaving for this trip, my team and I thought our ministry was going to be emphasized towards women being trafficked. Once we arrived, we were told we will be travelling to villages to work with kids on Tuesdays, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s we will be teaching English to kids at different schools...

What is Rest?

We’ve only been in India for a week and already I feel like I’ve learned so much.   God has really been speaking to my heart about what it means to rest in him. For a while now I’ve felt like I had a pretty good grip on what it means to “rest in Christ.” But what I’m talking about here is not like the Matthew 11:28 rest. This isn’t just relief or a lifting of burdens, this is something deeper. And for me it’s been much harder, much scarier, way more risky.   Ever since I left for training camp, every time I would pray I would just...

A Void Ticket, A Blocked Gate, and Some Dinosaurs

After an all-nighter with my team mates at training camp, our travel day began. We left camp at 3:30, for our flight that left at 7:00AM. We began checking in and everything seemed fine, until I tried checking in on one of the kiosks and an error message came up. I then had to go over to the customer service desk at which they told me that my flights were cancelled. Originally the flights should have been from Atlanta, to Chicago, to Abu Dhabi, to Hyderabad. But it only showed the first flight from ATL to Chicago, and yet that was void. So our Passport leader Abbie made a lot of...

My Story Behind Going

Hey friends! I am happy to tell you that after traveling for what felt like forever (22 hours) and a 5 hour drive days later, my team and I have finally made it to our ministry spot in Thailand and I am loving it already! Below is the background story of why I decided to go on this Passport mission trip. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to writing to you all again soon! Last year in January, I talked with some friends about feeling called to work with human trafficking victims in Asia, I just didn’t know where or when exactly. We prayed about it and left it with Jesus because I...

Tight Rope

“You trust God, don’t you?” She said. I caught my breath and nervously looked away. “Uh, I…uh…yeah?”  I couldn’t believe a simple “Yes” was so hard to utter in this moment. “I guess it’s something I need to talk with Him more about, and work on.” My team leader, Kristen, responded,  “I definitely think you need to remind yourself, whenever your worries come to mind, to tell God, ‘I trust you.’ Write it on your hand, don’t forget to say it until you believe it.” (I’m...
