I took my first cold bucket shower on June 3, 2016. It was actually quite nice, except I felt clean for about two seconds. Naturally. Georgia is hot, and tents are not air conditioned. We’ve been in Nepal for almost two weeks now and over the course of these past few weeks I’ve had some pretty crazy interactions with the people living here.   Everything from meeting an ex-drug addict/flight attendant from Washington who is now an evangelistic Jesus freak, to reuniting with my past ministry host who is trekking with my field supporter from my last two trips, to meeting a friend of a friend of a friend who runs a restaurant but who is really here to spread the love of Jesus. In Colossians 3 verse 10, Paul says to the church in Colossae that in Christ they have put on the “new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.” Then in verse 11 he says this: “Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.”   That last phrase, “Christ is all, and in all”, has captivated me for a long time, and while on this trip it’s something I’ve been meditating on.
