India Reflection

India Reflection So this week is our last week in India. This Friday we fly off to the next leg of our trip; Nepal. Ministry has been crazy beautiful here, and I’m so glad to have come to this brilliant part of the world. For the past five weeks we’ve been working in orphanages for disabled and special needs kids. The first half of our time in India was spent in the big city of Hyderabad, with my time split between two houses. In the mornings I’d help teach preschool to 2-5 year old boys and girls, and in the afternoon I’d be working with girls aged 8-26 playing mostly...

On to Ongole

On Friday we leave to go to a smaller village called Ongole, which is where the other two of Sarah’s homes are located. Tomorrow is our last day of ministry before we leave Hyderabad.   This never gets easier. Building relationships and then having to say goodbye. I knew it was inevitable but that doesn’t make it easier. These girls have invaded my heart and it tears me to pieces to have to say goodbye. They all have unique personalities and special little things about them. They make my day every time I see them. Just being around them, I am filled with joy. They reflect Christ’s...

Am I Sent?

What does it mean to be sent? Matt 28:16-20 The Great Commission Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” This is The Great Commission,...

Snapshot of India

We’ve been in India for almost two weeks now and I thought I’d given a quick snapshot of what our life here looks like.   We are working with an organization called Sarah’s Covenant Homes. They have six houses for special needs orphans, four in Hyderabad, two in Ongole. Our team is divided over the four houses here in Hyderabad.   The first house is Rescue which has the little babies. Then there’s Courage which is sectioned off into three autonomous floors. The first floor has kids from ages 2-6, this is also where preschool is held. The 2nd floor is home to...

Beauty Beyond Blisters

It’s been twelve days here in India, and I just now decided I am in love. I am in love with the people. I am in love with my team. I am in love with the One who loves me more than I can imagine. I have so many fun stories to tell, but the Lord wants me to share one about feet. That’s right. FEET. I’ve never been a huge fan of my feet. I think my toes are awkward and stubby. My toenails are all different sizes. Oh and we can’t forget about how weird that pinky toe of mine is with its tiny bit of a nail. Let’s face it. I’m never gonna be a foot model. I was...
