Demons exist…

It is currently our fourth day in the Dominican Republic and I could not be more excited to be here. Yes, we may all have 20+ bites from bugs all down our legs, we may all be sweating buckets, and we may all be burnt to crisp from the sun, but we are full of joy. There is an energy that radiates from this place that can only be that of God. We have two sets of devotions every day, along with team time, and a Bible study before breakfast. God is here. And He is moving. Fast. He has already engulfed each one of us not only spiritually, but physically as well. As we have been put to the test to not fall down the mountain that we have been cleaning, or the steep steps to the river where we take our showers. (Oh yes. We shower in the river y’all, and it is great). Not only do we shower in the river, but wash our clothes in the river, fellowship in the river, and find creatures in the river…hopefully we cleaned all those out…But seriously, this place is a paradise, and not just because of the spectacular view, but because God resides here.

However, there are demons here…and they are in bug form. There are these huge, huge, huge cockroaches that fly and attack. Well, I don’t know if they fully “attack”, but flying at humans seems to be one of their favorite pastimes. The Dominicans call them demon bugs. And I can see where they get their name, but even though there are demons here, God still reigns supreme.

We know God is moving, we can see Him moving, and we can feel Him moving. He is here in every 5:30 goat bleat right outside our window, He is here as we cut tall grass on the mountain, and He is here as we go on prayer walks through the community. I just cannot wait to see more of Him as He continues to moves mountains around us.

Sorry for such a small update, but we are here, we are safe, we are healthy, and we are happy to be a part of such an amazing ministry. So, goodbye for now, and I am praying that none of you will ever experience a demon bug flying towards you in your dorm room. 😉
