Music in the Sinner’s Ears

What do I expect to learn from the Thai people on this trip? Rewind to when I spent a couple weeks in Uganda not long ago. One of the bigger impressions I came away with was a realization that drove me further into worshiping and loving Christ. It wasn’t a realization of how privileged I am to live the way I do in the US, or a grand idea that I hoped would change the world for the better. What made the biggest impact wasn’t the outer differences (physically or socially) between myself and those I met, but something that I’ve found applies no matter what community I am...

On to Ongole

On Friday we leave to go to a smaller village called Ongole, which is where the other two of Sarah’s homes are located. Tomorrow is our last day of ministry before we leave Hyderabad.   This never gets easier. Building relationships and then having to say goodbye. I knew it was inevitable but that doesn’t make it easier. These girls have invaded my heart and it tears me to pieces to have to say goodbye. They all have unique personalities and special little things about them. They make my day every time I see them. Just being around them, I am filled with joy. They reflect...

Am I Sent?

What does it mean to be sent? Matt 28:16-20 The Great Commission Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” This is The Great...

Am I Being “Jonah”

I was sitting at The Well, a Christian ministry on campus. James, the speaker, said, “Some of you need to go on a mission trip, like next semester. It’s what God wants you to do.” I leaned over to my friend Sam and said, “Hey, that’s what I’m doing!” He replied, “Is this what God wants you to do or are you being Jonah?” What he was really telling me was, “Is this what God is calling you to do or are you running away from your problems like Jonah did in the Bible?” I was taken back by this question, but it was the hard truth...

The Least of These

It was so exciting to be a part of what happened at the village on Tuesday. It’s one of the ministries where we aren’t too sure what will be happening each week, besides that we’ll be spending time with people there. The village is a refreshing atmosphere, about an hour and a half ride out beyond Korat. The stars are so bright when we take the song-tao back to the city. This week was similar to last and the village ladies cooked us (an always-filling) dinner. In the evenings we gather for worship and a Bible teaching. After dinner, our host, Yoyo, shared some exciting...
