The Faces of Love

Today marks my last day in Cambodia. This past year I have been spending endless amounts of prayer time asking myself a few questions in preparation for this trip, what exactly is love? What does my God’s love look like? What does love in ministry look like? This month Love has had many faces. Love in ministry has been helping villagers pick rice. It’s been going into random strangers houses and playing charades to overcome the language barrier, only to end up awkwardly sitting there(still loving every second of it). It’s been playing soccer even when you’re dangerously...

Goodbye, Thailand

There have been numerous days that I’ve sat down with a pen and paper, and the intention of writing a blog post, but ended up staring at a blank page for hours. Trying to figure out what to say, and how to describe the things that I have experienced was just far too stressful, intimidating, and felt impossible. The truth is, I still don’t know what to say. Over the past month we have picked up two new team mottos: “plan on it happening, but expect it to change”, and “everything...

Broken Chains

When I imagined what this missions trip to Thailand would look like I thought it would be completely different. I imagined we would be living in small straw huts inside a tiny village in a rainforest. I thought I’d be spending every day at an orphanage teaching children and that I’d be doing evangelism with my team throughout villages. If someone would’ve told me God brought me to Southeast Asia to do things like breaking chains I would never have believed them. Now here’s the funny part: My team is actually spending time here breaking literal chains. Bike chains, to...

Hello, goodbye, and hello again.

Last week my Passport Team packed up our lives in Mae Sot, Thailand and began our journey to Mae La Noi. We planned to be living in Mae La Noi for the next 5 weeks, doing ministry with the children in the schools of the area and teaching English. While I enjoyed my time in Mae Sot, I was so expectant and hopeful for what the Lord had in store for us. So we packed into the Songtheaw and headed out on our next adventure. The drive through the mountains was breathtaking. The mountains were so tall they seemed to be only steps away from heaven. The trees were so green it seemed like God came down...
