Have You Ever Seen The Wonder?

Y’all! We made it to our new home for the next month about 5 days ago. I cannot express in words how stoked I am for this next season of my life. I have been waiting six months for this very moment- to be back in Guatemala, to be immersed with the beautiful people, to be greeted by the biggest smiles, to be surrounded by roaring mountains, and to see God work in mighty, mighty ways. As we drove 4ish hours to the top of the mountain (literally), I tried taking in every single detail of Guatemala- from the painted walls, cool trees (@Channing), and billboards in the city, to the farms, animals,...

Journey Up the Mountain

Today was our off first off day in Guatemala, so we decided to take a took took as far as it would go up the mountain outside of Chichi and then hike the rest of the way up. Along the way, we met two kids that came running up the mountain from their house to see us. They were so excited to see us and talk to us, and they told us that their family owned an apple farm on the side of the mountain.    We kept tracking up the mountain and were about at the top, but we weren’t sure exactly which road led to the top. We met another girl named Elsa. She talked with Andrea for a little...

A calling of $50,000 : A God worth it all

After finally finding some wifi, I’m here to tell you why I gave up two free years of college to live three months of my life in Guatemala. I’ve felt the calling for missions for some time now but it really struck me hard when I went on my first trip to Nicaragua. I fell so deeply in love with God during that week.  My home state of Tennessee allows any high school graduate to attend a community college or trade school for two years free. I was in my senior year of high school when I went to Nicaragua. Shortly there after I applied to the World Race Gap Year.  I was met...

Belong to Me

We’ve been in ChiChi for about 3 days but honesty it feels like we live here. We have a little family. I can’t get over the unity of this team. I just realized we’ve been away from our homes for about a week and that’s just weird. On Wednesday, 1/29/18 our team split into two groups and went to the local school to teach. I was on Team B who went from 3:30-6:00 and it was amazing. All the children wore red uniforms and were basically bouncing off the walls when we walked into the school. I loved teaching. The class began with a simple prayer, in which the students repeated...

LOVE CROSSES BOARDERS

Coming into this trip I know a couple things are for sure going to happen. 1. My life will be changed forever. 2. I’m going to have memories and stories for a life time. And 3. The weather will be a step up from Wisconsin (more like a whole staircase). I left home bragging about how I was going to be walking around in Chacos and t-shirts verses a winter jacket and mittens. I was quickly humbled by the fact we could barley see the mountains through the fog once we landed. YET, the fog didn’t blind us from the beauty behind it. How amazing is that illusion. Even though we arrived on...
