Surrounded by Hills and The Holy Spirit

Nepal is a whole other world. We’ve only been here a week and already I’ve experienced such highs and lows. As we arrived I couldn’t contain my excitement to be in Nepal and my anticipation for all that God will do here. I feel truly truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to travel half way around the world to serve the Nepali people. The blessings have continued to flow as I only experienced jet lag for less than a day and I haven’t felt the slightest bit sick *knock on wood*. I may be dirty and sticky from the humidity but I’m surrounded by an...

Trusting in His Plan

Proverbs 3:5-6  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your path straight.” All my life I have heard this verse and fully believed that I was trusting in the Lord with all my heart. Growing up, I believed that I was fearless and that was the same thing as trusting the Lord. Until now, I did not understand what trusting in the Lord looked like. The Lord has revealed to me that trusting in him is giving your whole life and being to him. Saying you trust in the Lord and actually trusting...

This is where God wanted me

I remember when I got accepted to this trip I was so excited. That was back in February, and in the months leading up to this trip that excitement dwindled. I got busy, and when I got busy the trip fell to the back of my mind. Every once in a while I thought about it and felt guilty that I wasn’t more excited so I would tell everyone about it and pray a lot and research the culture. It wasn’t real though, I didn’t give it the respect it deserved. The day before training camp I still didn’t feel energized, I didn’t feel like this trip was something that I needed...

God Restores Hope

After our first day doing ministry, I felt hopeless. The enemy was telling me lies. For ministry, we traveled to an area where there were many prostitutes. There are trafficked women and children roaming the streets begging for money. There were also cabin bars all over, the place that people go to eat and get drunk. The waitresses serve the food and drinks while selling themselves in return. Whenever the men want, they take the women into the cabins and do as they please. At first, we went on a prayer walk. We prayed for the people and prayed that the Lord would lead us where he desired...

She is His

She is so beautiful and so very loved and she doesn’t even know it. She has the prettiest smile but the men that come in to see her do not know that. She is a mother but those who know her just for her job do not know that. She matters and her future is important and she doesn’t know that. As we spoke to Surita, a prostitute in a cabin bar, all I wanted to do is tell her over and over again how God’s sees her so differently than all these men. That God had better plans for her than this. I wanted to scoop her up and take her and her sweet baby out of that dark place. If I...

This Bar No Longer Sells Girls

”I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called ‘Not my loved one.’ I will say to those called ‘Not my people,’ ‘You are my people’; and they will say, ‘You are my God.'”Hosea 2:23 Along dirt crusted roads we traveled weaving between the busy Nepali people eagerly waiting to know our assignments for the day. Upon arrival to our host’s home we gathered along brightly colored floral mattresses. The children greeted us with giggles and hugs as we sat down. After a few silly icebreaker games and...
