Learning How to Say Goodbye

Im back in the USA with A/C, warm water, and a comfy hotel bed, and all I can think about is that I learned so much from an 11 year old on this trip. I got the opportunity to go to slum ministry for one day. It was basically like an hour of loving on and teaching kids from a poor part of town. I thought I would be more excited since kids are my cup of tea, but I was confused. “What good am I going to do in these kids lives for the 60 minutes I have with them?” and other negative thoughts streamed my mind while riding a bus to the slum. I was thankful to go, but almost second...

Wildfire

I had no clue what the Lord had in store. I had no clue what the ministry would entail. I had no clue the amount of relationships that would be built. I had no clue the hardships, the laughter, the memories, and the growth that would occur on this trip. The expectations I had were ripped away and replaced by something even better. I am beyond thankful for this trip. Being someone who was adopted from South America, I grew up knowing the needs of people around me and the very things that made living day to day a constant struggle. However, now that I have had the opportunity to live in the United States for eleven years now, the need of people in South America was something I hadn’t thought of often after coming to live in New Mexico. But that’s just it isn’t it? I’d forgotten the needs of other people and was living a comfortable and luxurious life. Truth is, I loved my life and the way I was living but did not want to step out...

Relational Living

What is next on your agenda for the day? Did it take you less than 10 seconds to answer that question? I am a task oriented person- always ready to rattle off the scheduled business that fills every moment of my life. However, I do not believe that this is how God intended for us to live. When God created man, He gave him a task- “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1:28). God gave Adam something to accomplish. But God...
