Living Water

This past week was an experience. Our team went to a Zambian village named Mapena about 45 minutes away from our host city of Livingstone. We had the opportunity to spend 4 days and nights within the village next to a local community school. During our time in the village we had ministry opportunities such as: teaching youth ages 12-18 what the Bible says about sex (yes, that was a first), painting the exterior of one of the school buildings, playing soccer, volleyball, and netball with the youth, walking through and praying for the village, and sitting down and having conversations with...

The Epicenter of the Universe

•Picture the epicenter of the universe standing behind you•   Friday night my leader Ruthann asked me to share something in front of the high schoolers at Victory Church. If any of you know me, you know that public speaking is a huge fear of mine. Despite taking a public speaking college course, and taking advantage of many opportunities to speak at my church, it still brings me immense anxiety and discomfort.     Something I try to live by is, embrace the uncomfortable, so I said yes.  I know that some of the discomfort is spiritual attack. I have a...

Joy is a Choice

My team and I have been in Zambia for just over one week! We arrived last Sunday afternoon and are living in the city of Livingstone. Our hosts for this month are three godly men named Ken, Roderick, and Bright who run the organization named Africa 4 Jesus. A4J is focused on reaching the community of Livingstone and specifically geared towards the youth (ages 18-35) of the city. Throughout this week we had the opportunity to spend time in the community just walking the streets, seeing the city, and speaking to whomever the Holy Spirit leads. One of my teammates, Marisa, and I specifically...

church is not a place

I know I might step on some toes – Just hear me out- I love god with everything in me. My faith in Jesus Christ is so important- the most important thing in my life. But to box in my faith and tie my belief in Jesus to my church attendance or simply the word Christianity , doesn’t seem fitting to me. I find truth in the bible and in God himself, but too often I find myself &others around me, so quick to listen to someone just because of labels. Pastors & Leaders are meant to point you to truth, not create truth. I find myself a lot of times conforming ;Simply because...

Processing Peru

So I’ve officially been back in the USA for about two weeks now, and I’ve finally had a good amount of time to process this past month serving in Peru. I decided to write this blog (sorry it’s more like an essay, y’all) to share all of the things I’ve learned and how God has been continuing to work in my heart. Because I know He’s not finished; this is only the beginning.   What would seem like one of the biggest challenges going on this trip, actually turned into one of the most freeing blessings. We were all able to be so much more disconnected...
