Seeking the Lord

It has been a very eventful and challenging first 2 weeks. The Lord has been faithful in multiple ways, by giving us a team that can encourage and work well together, having many ministries to show His love through whether it be picking up garbage, teaching kids, or prayer walks and giving us a family like Juan’s to work alongside with for a month. Most days look like:breakfast team time (we shared testimonies this past week, feedback and bible studies)morning ministry (prayer walks, listening prayers, community cleanup)lunch free time/first shift at schoolsecond shift at school/free...

Holy Spirit You Are Welcome Here

This is my first mission trip out of the states. I tried to not have any expectations going into it, but there are always people telling you what to expect. My past mission trips have always had structure to them and a schedule of the day. Here in Chichicastenango, we’ve been doing a lot of Holy Spirit activation prayer to see where the Lord leads us in ministry. It’s honestly been a frustrating time for me. I’ve never done anything like this before. I know the Holy Spirit dwells inside of me, but when I sit there in prayer, I feel like I don’t get anything from Him...

Step out. Trust.

First I want to say I am not a blogger and I am really bad at collecting my thoughts so forgive me for the ramble. I just want to share a few of the ways the Lord has been teaching me to trust him throughout these few weeks. So here we go! The reason I signed up for this trip to Guatemala was because i felt the Lord calling me to step out of my comfort zone and into a life of full trust in Him. I can say that since coming here i have not been comfortable. The living quarters are much different than anything i have ever experienced in America. i take bucket showers once or twice a...

hungry for the trinity

Friends, When I applied for this trip I thought I was being called because the Lord wanted me to go spread the gospel and to love on his people, that this was a reward for being obedient to him the past year. I was shut down, when I started feeling spiritually drained, and completely disconnected from the Lord. Do I really even have a purpose here? So, for the past few days I’ve put on my armor of God and have clung onto Matthew 6:16-18. I longed to know God in a different way and to hear him, I ached to be one with the Holy Spirit, I needed a breakthrough, I needed direction, I...

Lifestyle Christianity

These first few weeks in Guatemala have at the same time felt both long and short. It feels like I’ve known my teammates for years, and it seems like we’ve been in Chichicastenango for only a short time. If one thing is for sure, it is that God has blessed us with relationships and opportunities. One thing that God has been working on in my heart is my perspective. During our time this far, we have had to be very flexible as well as ok with plans falling apart. Some days our ministry opportunities don’t work out, and we are left with little official schedule. This can very...
