Pain is Temporary

Pain and suffering are two words that humanity often uses to describe their emotions towards their lives. These two words can be defined differently by anyone who chooses to put these words into their vocabulary. Those who are Christians question why these two words are in their vocabulary, if they believe in the almighty God then shouldn’t they be saved from pain and suffering? This is where we fall short. During quiet time the past few days I find myself reading in 1 Peter. Peter wrote this letter for Christians everywhere in roughly A.D. 64. We see him begin with addressing, what is...

Thankful for Cold Showers

In my 19 years of life I have on more than one occasion been covered head to toe in dirt. When I was younger I hated wearing shoes and so all of my everyday activities involved my feet getting covered in mud or grass stains. I was that kid that turned my bath water brown. On many other occasions my family had taken multiple camping trips where showering was unlikely and so smelling bad was an everyday occurrence. As I mentioned before the feeling of being dirty was not a new sensation to me. However, have you ever felt so confident in something and then realized that you were so wrong about...

A Closing Comfort

I’m writing this on my flight to Costa Rica. It is unreal y’all. I never would have imagined that I would be headed to live in another country, fully immersing myself into the culture, for a month. A month is a very short period of time but I am stepping WAY outside of my comfort zone. I had always imagined traveling to different country for luxury and exploration, not to leave my freedom of the sweet summer in Knoxville, Tennessee. I did not want to place myself into a situation of the unknown, especially one in which I was alone. Let me share something with you: God will have His...

Hello from Costa Rica!

Hello from Costa Rica! This is Jake, one of the leaders for this great group of world changers! As Shadrach already said, our team has made it safely to our home for the month in San Pedro. We arrived at ZOE Ministries late in the night, accompanied by Margaret, our point person for ministry, and Randy, a church member and translator. We were given a delicious meal when we got to where we are staying before promptly going to bed. Already, we’ve hit the ground running with ministry. Marina, my co-leader, and myself woke up early to get breakfast food for the team. Not having...

My new best friend.

Hello Family, Friends, and complete strangers! My name is Sarah, and am in Costa Rica! (Which I still cannot believe is an actual fact I can say). This past week at training camp I have seriously grown so far in my faith. I feel so incredibly full of God’s love, and I am so excited to pour his love to all the people I come across.  This past week was a huge turning point in my relationship with Christ. For the longest time, I was waiting for God to tell me things. I was craving The Holy Spirit. I would talk to him all the time, and I was confused why he wouldn’t...
