Our ministry host has been taking my team to a place called The Line. There we met women who think they are only good for one thing and that one thing is sex. To all the women there, this is a job because some of them didn’t complete school. Most are single mothers. Some are 14 years old. They are not only this but they are also daughters, sisters and most importantly they ARE God’s beloved creations. To speak with them and hear them say they want safety and stability. To pray for them and also the men that are there because it’s hard to remember that they are God’s creation as well. Some of my team found it hard to not be angry with the men but we had to remember that their sin is no greater than that of the women.
I have also been blessed with the opportunity to teach English to some of the staff here at YWAM and also some awesome kiddos (even though they’re the same age as me)! I am able to see their ambition and their desire to learn English. One of the boys, Jose, told me he graduates high school next year and would love to go to University in the States. And that made me wonder what the others dreams were. So I sent them home with a little project to write down and tell me what they wanted to learn from this class and what their ambitions were and we would help them translate it into English!
We only have a month left here in Guatemala. And I going to make every day count!
