Broken Pieces

“Todo, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.” Or in this case, India. We have been in Chaiyaphum, Thailand for 10 days. And just like India, Thailand has its way of amazing me. To the night markets that are in the middle of the week, to random dancing festivals in rice patties, to elephants meeting you at the gate of your house, to fitting ten people in the bed of a truck for more than an hour’s drive, even in the rain.   The first night we rolled up onto the dirt driveway, we got out of the car just enough to stretch and then headed straight for the...

One Month For Eternity

India was something I’ve never experienced before. Probably because I’ve never been to India before June and probably because I had no idea what to expect. But none the less, India was something else. India was hard. India was dark. India was hurting. India was full of things you expect as a missionary but are never really prepared for. Like people who don’t get it. Like those who think we’ll save them, rather than introduce a savior. Like families who believe they have to wait for another team to be blessed again and mothers who don’t understand that she can...

This is Thailand!

Hello friends, family, and other random people reading our blog!   We have arrived in Thailand and reached our ministry location. We had a couple days of very smooth travel and are finally settling in. We live with a family, their children, and a few precious orphans. They have already completely won our hearts and I know by the end of July we will be heartbroken when we have to say goodbye.    My first impressions: Its hot. All the time. This is the most Gospel-lacking place I have ever been to. It’s going to be a good month. I know it. Please keep us in your prayers...

The Two Little Hearts that Broke Mine

During our first week here in India, we spent our days going to this home for women who had been rescued from sex trafficking (there were also these two boys of one of the women). The first time we stepped foot into the home it was evident that there was no life or joy radiating amidst those walls. The 8 of us missionaries are not and will not be able to ever express the love that comes from knowing and trusting in the name of Jesus Christ. However, we as christians have that joy inside of us, and by loving these women, we were able let our love mirror the love of our Abba, daddy. At the...

The Other Side of the Dirt Road

I was in shock— Not about what I saw about I saw, but about how I felt about it.   What I saw was horrific. I was walking in the city down a dirt road with a railroad track on one side and a collection of ____ on the other side. I guess they function as homes so they could be called that. But these are pathetic. They seem to be a collection of sticks, tarps, and buckets arranged in the rough form of a tent. Most Americans wouldn’t let their dog stay in a structure like this in their backyard. In fact, if you woke up and found one of these in your backyard, I imagine you...
