The Real Exposure

A little over a month ago, I would have literally cried tears of joy if someone had handed me a cup of coffee from a Keurig with real creamer in it. Today, I am well immersed back into American culture, and I use my Keurig more times a day than I would like to admit. It was too easy to come straight back into my life before the trip. I forgot what it felt like during the trip to be so thankful for the questionable food I was about to eat. I forgot how to completely rely on the Lord for strength through the weight of exhaustion. I forgot the pure joy that I could feel just from a simple cup...

Files, Files, and More Files

Hola!       I can’t believe I’ve been gone for a week already! We have Ben in Ecuador since late Monday night, and arrived in Portoviejo late Wednesday night. Our first day was spent exploring Quito and getting lost on the busses, but we made it and did find a nice park. We arrived in Portoviejo late Wednesday night and got settled into our apartment. The church found the apartment for rent 1/2 a block away from the church and the Pastor’s home the day before we arrived, so it was a blessing from God! It’s unfurnished, but we have mattresses to...

Climbing the Mountain

Well, I have finally made it to Capetown, South Africa. After many hours of sitting and sleeping in both airports and airplanes I’m glad we are here. This past weekend we had the training for this trip. Training was a whirlwind of emotions. It included many moments of fear, but also many moments of excitement. It was also a time of surrendering this trip to my Father. To be honest these next three months can look like a mountain to me, but I have decided that I’m willing to climb it with my hands wide open. I’m truly willing to be open to whatever my God has for me here in...

Mae Sot

Hello everyone!  Team 1, aka the Big Team arrived, in Mae Sot yesterday afternoon!  We were all able to shower and get about three hours of sleep on at the hostel in Bangkok, before we had to get up and go to the bus station to catch our ride to Mae Sot. Once on board we passed the time by sleeping and…sleeping…oh and sleeping! Needless to say it was a quiet seven hour ride. We were picked up from the bus station in Mae Sot by our host and were taken to their team house, where we will be staying for our time here. After grabbing some dinner and some worship, we all...

New Beginnings Calvary Chapel Patong

After crazy amount of travel, the smaller Southeast Asia team has arrived safely to their host where we were greeted by a slight power outage and delicious dinner waiting for us on the table. We began our day by heading to the bus terminal at 4:30am (after arriving to the hostel around 11pm). We had said our goodbyes to the other team the night before, so we were all ready to go. At the bus terminal, we bought some yummy snacks for the ride and even found real DONUTS! Blessings upon blessings. What we thought was supposed to be an 11 hour drive turned into 15 hours. So, it was a very long...

Peace. Love. South Africa.

We have arrived safe and sound in Oceanview, South Africa! after three airports and four flights we arrived yesterday afternoon local time. We went to bed early and slept for about 13 hours! We had the opportunity to walk around our town and get some history this morning. We will only have access to wifi about one or two times a week, so if you don’t hear from us please don’t worry. We will be out in our community playing soccer with the kids, going to churches, and visiting our neighbors. We are excited for the next three months and what the Lord has in store for us here!!...
