Spiritual Warfare

So, I have sat down many times to try and write a blog post but couldn’t think of anything that needed to be said. The Lord is faithful and I just asked him what needed to be said.  It’s our first official day in Nicaragua and everything is exciting and new. The moment we got to the orphanage CICRN, I could feel the spiritual warfare that was happening over this place. There was a heaviness in the air that did not seem to let up. We sat down for some team time and were discussing what we would be doing, but then our team leaders discussed spiritual warfare with us. The...

He Never Said It Was Going To Be Easy

We are in Rachaburri. I have been away from home now for sixteen days. Some days it feels like such a short time, I could even say it feels like we just got off the plane from Malaysia. Other days though, the hard days, it feels like I have been gone for weeks. A day ago, when the homesickness set it, it hit me so hard. I wanted to be angry at God. I felt like I had made a big mistake coming here. I cried for hours. I had forgotten that I am a warrior who doesn’t back down. My leader remind me that I am a woman of God and I don’t run away from fights. Man though, did I want to...

The Number 13

We have 13 days left… I hate that number! It’s no wonder hotels skip that level, airplanes bypass straight from 12 to 14 and that Friday the 13th is haunted! Everyone. Hates. 13. And especially I today. We have 13 days left to make our mark but more than that, we have 13 days left to ravish in the mark these people have made on us. 13 more nights to dance until all the water has been drained from our bodies, 13 days for the boys to utterly destroy us in fútbol (while making fun of us along the way, of course), 13 more mornings of waking up to freshly cut bread, 13 more...

Disconnected…Well Not Really!

Life in Thailand is great! Funny Snapchat stories, cute instagram pictures, and a camera in the palm of my hand at all times. Sounds great right? Well it was until God took it away from me. A couple days ago I lost all that when a tiny purple dot spread all the way across my phone screen. Since I can’t see the screen I can’t look at snapchat, post on instagram, or take pictures whenever I want! At first I was furious! The rest of my team was having the time of there life on there phones and I had to carry around my laptop just  to message a few people and check Facebook. I...

A New Perspective

One week down in Costa Rica and I have learned so many things. I have learned that the people here value relationship over religion. I have learned that it rains just about everyday in the afternoon. I have learned that there are lots of bugs, especially ants. The fruits we buy at home are casually growing in trees in peoples’ yards. Coffee beans are green until they are roasted. The coffee here is fantastic. There are several active volcanoes in Costa Rica. San Jose is bustling. The list goes on forever. One of the most important things I have learned about this trip is...
