Spiritual Warfare

So, I have sat down many times to try and write a blog post but couldn’t think of anything that needed to be said. The Lord is faithful and I just asked him what needed to be said.  It’s our first official day in Nicaragua and everything is exciting and new. The moment we got to the orphanage CICRN, I could feel the spiritual warfare that was happening over this place. There was a heaviness in the air that did not seem to let up.

We sat down for some team time and were discussing what we would be doing, but then our team leaders discussed spiritual warfare with us. The craziest thing happened the doors that were opened shut suddenly, but then one door opened and I literally felt this weight on me. One of my leaders was teaching us how to pray with authority and how to cast away that demon/ unwelcome presence.

The Lord told us to walk around our home seven times, which seemed kind of silly at first, because it’s dark outside and we can’t see. Still we were obedient. Honestly, I was slightly scared because this was something I had never done before. We walked and we prayed, then we walked and prayed some more.  At first it was hard but the more we walked The Lord was so faithful.  I was actually fearful to pray out loud but it got easier the more we went around the building.  Around the fifth time, that heaviness was lifted and we were praying openly and faithfully and with authority that comes from the Lord.

As we finished the seventh time around our home, we grouped together and had a moment to share if the Lord showed anyone anything.  Everyone was saying the same things and it was validating that this was what the Lord planned.  Just a picture of light kept coming to mind and this light flooding every nook and crevasse in our home and it is overflowing. There was no room for anything else in this building but the light. The Lord has filled this place with his Holy Spirit and it isn’t going anywhere!!!

This authority does not come from us but it comes from the Lord.  One of my team mates shared this verse with us, Psalm 5:11-12, “But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exalt in you. For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield.” The Lord is my shield and he is my protector and he has shown me that and he is faithful to what he promises!`
