For the last couple days I’ve been doing labor ministry.. including scrubbing walls, moving furniture, or painting. I don’t mind it, but it is hardwork. I’ve been scrubbing so much that my team and I joke that I’m going to open a wall scrubbing company when I get back to the states and if they can’t find any other job or college doesn’t work out than I’ll let them work for my company. Anyways, today I was scrubbing a dirt ridden metal window frame, when I wiped away the dirt and grime my friend said,” It looks brand new!”
As I’ve been scrubbing dirty walls and repainting them the last couple days all I keep thinking is “God makes all things new.” He replaces my stone heart with a heart of flesh and a new spirit. He wipes away the dirty slate of the past and gives a new beginning. A common lie that the enemy tries to convince people is that they are too far gone, but you’ve never done or will do anything too “bad” for God. We view ourselves in mirrors that are distorted, full of people’s fingerprints that don’t belong, and smudges that we can’t seem to wipe away. The only way to fully wipe away the muck is with Gods words of truth that remind you who you are and who you belong to. When that happens you see clearly and you start to walk a little different, talk a little different, and you understand the power that is within you surpasses that which is against you.
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My Statutes, and you will keep my judgements and do them.” -Ezekiel 36:26-27
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
