Saying Yes

Today is the day that my team and I leave for Zambia! The past 3 days we had the opportunity to go through a training camp where we met our team, worshiped our Heavenly Father, and went through training sessions. Being honest, I had arrived in Atlanta on Monday ready to go to Zambia right away and was a bit disappointed we had to spend a few more days in Georgia before we left. But looking back now, I can see that training camp was essential for this month long journey. Even in the last three days, God has shown me so much more of who He is, who I am, and what His plan is for my life.

The number one thing that God has taught me the past few days is the importance of saying yes to Him when He tells us to do something.

When God says go, you go.

When God says wait, you wait.

When God says listen, you listen.

Today as we sat in the airport for several hours, God provided many opportunities to say yes to Him. As a group of us sat on the ground talking, sleeping, playing games, or just conversing, a man in military uniform approached us and started to talk with us. We sat down as a group and began to just have a conversation. Brandon (his name) told us his story of how he had just graduated from training camp this morning, seen his family for 10 minutes, and was on his way to his post in Texas. As we all talked I felt the Lord telling me to pray for Brandon. As we all prepared to leave we all gathered together and prayed as a family that God would protect us all in our travels, keep Brandon safe in his duties, and that the Lord would continuously remind us of His great love and His Son that He sent for us. As we said amen, Brandon informed us that he had been struggling and needed prayer and encouragement more than anything at the moment!

It’s incredible how God puts people in our lives, tells us to engage with them, and shows how poweful He is when we say yes! 

Pray for my team and me as we travel to Zambia and that God would continuously put people in our paths and that the Holy Spirit would give us the strength to say yes to Him!

Now to board our airplane to Africa!
