He>I

I can’t believe we have already been gone six weeks! Time is flying by, and today, we’ll be headed off to Botswana where we will spend three weeks before spending our last three weeks in Zambia. The last six weeks we have spent in Port Elizabeth have been absolutely amazing. I have learned to experience God in so many new ways, and I am seeking Him now more than ever. My relationship with God has grown exponentially.  Love Story has opened my eyes to how much more I can be doing in my community at home. Much of our time over the past month was spent going around to local grocery...

Listening is Loving

Our time here in Port Elizabeth is coming to an end and I’m so thankful, yet so sad. As excited I am for Botswana, I’m going to miss everyone here so much. Love Story truly is a family and they invited us in, loved us and made us a part of their family. I hope and pray that I can love everyone I come in contact with the way they loved and served us.   Coming in to this trip I was most excited about kids and thought that would be my favorite part, but I NEVER expected to enjoy homeless ministry the most. It’s definitely not something I loved in the beginning, but it really...

They Are The Roses in December

“They are the roses in December; you remember someone said that God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December.” -J.M. To Submit

I get it. Really. When woman get upset because the Bible talks about men being over woman, and wives submitting to their husbands. There are some absolutely horrible representations of what “Christian” men or even just men in general are like, or how they treat people. So I understand woman feeling defensive and wanting to compensate with their independence when Christian’s spit out these verses, because I would do the same thing. It’s so crucial to understand that when the Bible speaks of these things it’s referring to a time back in the Garden when everything...

Love Deeper and Smile Bigger

When you’re thinking about or planning to go on a mission trip, you generally want to go to make a difference and teach the people you meet all about God. But while you’re there, you realize something. You realize that the people you’re serving and loving on begin to shape you in ways you weren’t expecting to be shaped. The smallest things make the biggest impact for both sides involved. Marley and I help teach a 3 and 4 year-old class. We can go to the school and love on our teacher and the kids and make an impact without even explicitly trying. Same thing goes for our...
