Boundless

It’s crazy to me that our first month draws to an end, meaning that our trip is halfway done. Flown by is an understatement. What blows me away though is how much I’ve seen God move. Our ministry looks different everyday and it has been a lesson on being flexible and trusting that in all things, we are serving our Maker.   I came with the idea that we were going to go in bars and ask women if they wanted to leave this life then take them to a safe house and teach them about the freedom in Jesus. But that was not God’s plan and He’s faithfully showed me why the...

This is Church

Monday, June 13 was our first full day of ministry. The morning was spent doing devotion with our team, the missionary family and a few others from the church here. The late morning and afternoon were spent organizing and shopping at the “big C” for groceries and supplies with the missionary family. Only a few nights sleep between our nearly 4 days of travel and this day, so we were still pretty tired and trying to make it through the day awake. We were a little weary of heading to a bible study later that night. (Bible studies starting at midnight are actually a regular thing...

Providential Friends

For months before this trip I had been asking God to provide at least one person for me to share His love with. I believe this person was my new friend from Thailand, Jenny! One day my team and I went to get foot massages in order to minister to the girls in the massage shop. Jenny was the girl who massaged my feet. We got to talk a little, but communication is limited because “Annie no speak Thai.” One thing I did get out of the conversation was that Pad Thai was both of our favorite Thai foods, haha! So I told Jenny that I wanted to eat Pad Thai with her one day before I...

Ministry in the Little Things

One of the things that God has really shown me while I have been here in Thailand is different sides of ministry. I always thought of ministry as something that is none stop and are constantly sharing the love of Jesus. While being here in Thailand, God has shown me that ministry can be that but also something different.             Teaching is a huge thing that we do here. Not only do we teach English to students but we also help with the local home schooling program and teach general education. For the past couple of days, I have been...

The Light of the World in Dark Places

I never know what to expect next in Phuket, Thailand. I am always learning or doing something new and there are plenty of surprises. But one thing I have learned for certain: nothing can keep Jesus from being with me. He first showed me this during the first week in Phuket. Less than 1% of Thailand’s population is Christian and this creates a very spiritually dark place. One day as I was praying, Jesus reminded me that this darkness was not separating him from me at all. This knowledge gave me much comfort and helped deepen my relationship with him. Throughout our few weeks here, we...
