India, we have arrived!

Doh Ma from India! Our team made it safe and sound to our ministry sight yesterday mid afternoon. The team is doing great and we are so excited to serve here this month. The hosts here are wonderful and God is already doing A LOT around us. We are excited to just jump right in the river and serve, too! I am so impressed and humbled by this team. They are so intentional and passionate, as well as ready to go. We’ve spent the last day and a half meeting with our hosts to talk about the ministry/ how it was founded, going on a hike to a prayer mountain near by, praying for people at a hospital...

Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual warfare is generally defined as the rebellion of Satan and his angels against God, and the means he uses to do so. For whatever reason, darkness in our minds is rarely recognized as warfare in day to day life in the States. The human battle against Satan is disguised more as materialism, pride, common anxiety, etc. There is no doubt that Satan works just as hard to cause weakness in America, but the ways he chooses to go about this simply match the American heart.  My first night in India, my team decided to go to bed around 7 pm local time. We had been fighting jetlag around...

Expecting the Unexpected

So, if you are reading this, I’m alive and thriving just to let you know. As of yesterday, I have been in Costa Rica for two week. Crazy, I know. I survived the mountains, I have survived the jungle, and now I am residing in the city. But let me tell you none of this is what I expected. God has once again taken everything that I thought Costa Rica was going to be and fully blown my mind. While I had gone into the trip thinking that I would spend all my time in the city doing kids ministry, that is not what I was really here to do. Within the short span of two weeks, God has opened up...

Bathing in Holy Water

The amount of bug spray, sunscreen, and buying half the store of old navy seemed to prepare me well to embark on this journey to the Amazon River. Little did I realize that the physical things I seemed to think I needed should not have been so high at the top of my list. Never did I think I would ever be in a foreign country with nine other people I have never met before. Also did I never think that I wouldn’t have the accessibility to ever take a “normal shower”, or as to what I thought was normal. Let’s go over what my normal was… hot 30 minute showers, lets not...

the simplicity of village life

Hello!! I cannot believe we are already 6 days into our time in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. I have learned so much about my teammates, my self, Cambodian culture, and the wonderful people of Cambodia. We are serving at an orphanage in a village. I love the simplicity of village life. Mornings are slow and peaceful. My team and I eat breakfast together and then we complete whatever projects the orphanage needs done. Currently half of the team is painting a mural, while the other half works on lesson plans for teaching English to the kids. The children go to school Monday-Saturday from 7am-11am, and...
