Week 2 on the Island

Hello all, Week 2 on Ometepe island has been an incredible one as we have started to settle into life here. My body is sorta getting used to the heat, even though I can’t seem to stop sweating. I drink lots of water and am staying hydrated. The week started out by going to church and it was all kinds of different. The church is a building with holes in the walls for Windows, fans and plastic chairs. The songs are all memorized so no need to put words up, everything was in Spanish so I didn’t really need to worry about it. Most of the songs they sang I knew the English version so...

Week 1 on the Island

Hello all,I am going to show you just a little of what I have been doing the past week. This week has been the an amazing, emotional time. I got to the airport on the 1st of September and waited for a few hours as the rest of the people started to come in from all around the country. Training camp brought me closer to the Lord and I cried so much because the Lord was preparing me for the next 3 months. I am so happy to have been part of that experience and that was just 4 days! Monday morning we headed...

Nicaragua!

We have safely arrived on Ometepe island!! We landed in Managua on Monday evening and stayed the night in the city. A couple of vans arrived bright and early to take us to the port where we would catch the ferry to Ometepe. Super windy and super safe!! The island! It’s so beautiful and everything is so green! When we arrived at CICRIN we were met with many sweet faces ready to play! After lunch we were given time to rest and to enjoy the grounds, which over look the lake! It was it raining so we missed the sunset but were told that every evening the sky is painted with a beautiful show. Today...

Ready. Set. Go.

It’s been a whirlwind of a weekend. It felt as though I was in Georgia for training camp for a whole week, not just three days. The Adventures in Missions staff was wholly committed to preparing us practically, emotionally, and spiritually for the three months ahead of us. We were forced to dig much deep into ourselves, bond with new people quickly and share intimate details, and connect on a deeper level with God. On Thursday night, my family and I arrived after driving through northern Georgia’s mountains and country. I met my team and had a last meal with my family. After last...
