Week 1 on the Island

Hello all,
I am going to show you just a little of what I have been doing the past week.

This week has been the an amazing, emotional time. I got to the airport on the 1st of September and waited for a few hours as the rest of the people started to come in from all around the country. When we got to training camp I had an idea of what it would be like and I was mostly wrong. Training camp brought me closer to the Lord and I cried so much because the Lord was preparing me for the next 3 months. I am so happy to have been part of that experience and that was just 4 days! Monday morning we headed to the airport were my team prepared to wait for the next 5 hours. Finally we got to Managua and it was hectic as all 18 of us got our bags and went through all of customs. We stayed at a hostel for the night and the next day headed to Ometepe island on a ferry. This week I have helped teach English at the school, sweep water from the playing area, washed the walls of a church and best of all play with the children.

Week one has not been the easiest, as I try to get used to all the moisture and living with 17 other people. But it has been truly a great one as I learn more about and serve God. When I stepped of the ferry on to the place that I get to call home for the next 3 months I was filled with an overwhelming love from the creator. I might get intimidated and overwhelmed at times but I just remember why I am here and that God is on my side. God has blessed me with an amazing team of women.

I am not very good at writing and this will be a process as I try and keep you updated of life on Ometepe island.

Blessings & Love
Christina
