Today I sat on a dock, surrounded by friends I met just two weeks ago. We sat laughing, sharing our hopes and dreams, and reflecting on how God has grown us through our struggles. After looking in the eyes of my sisters in Christ and seeing the image of God reflected in their experiences and beauty, I raised my eyes to an equally breathtaking view.
Volcanic mountains wrapped around me. There was no way out, no place to run where they ceased to tower over me. I felt an overwhelming sense of safety and peace. The scene reminded me of God’s love. He wraps His arms around me not to constrict and control me, but to provide a safe place to experience His unconditional love and peace. He does not dictate my every move. Rather He guides my steps within His abundant grace. There is no place to hide- no coffee shop, quiet corner, or mental retreat into my own world can separate me from the overwhelming presence of our loving Father.
