This past week was our second full week of ministry here in India. We are spending our first two and a half weeks in India in a small village called Sielmat. While we are here, we are staying in a seminary.
When we first arrived, the dean requested that we take two of the daily morning devotions during the two and a half weeks that we are staying here. That includes providing the worship and message for those mornings.
The first morning that we were responsible for was late last week. One of my teammates picked the song ‘Oceans’ for us to sing. That morning, as we were running through sound check and we were singing through the song, the Lord revealed something to me.
In the chorus of the song, it says:
And I will call upon your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
As I was thinking about the words, the Lord showed me something…
I had always thought of it as if I was down in the water, just struggling to keep my head above the waves. Instead, I feel he showed me that, like Peter, I am walking on the water. But, it was only when Peter took his eyes off of Jesus and started to worry about the waves that he started to sink.
So are you looking at the water or at Jesus?
