Hello from Livingstone, Zambia!
The team has been here a week now and it could not be better. Perfect weather and our hosts Lweeda and Sanderson have been absolutely fantastic. We’ve done mission work in all parts of Livingstone, from widow ministry bible studies to VBS style camps in orphanages. It has been truly amazing to see how just loving on a person can change their entire outlook of their week.
The main thing I’ve seen from this trip is the awesome power of prayer. Zambian people are extremely friendly, and they are all about community and helping others out. Just taking the time to go and pray for someone is a big deal for them. Most can’t believe 22 people from Canada and the USA would come to just serve and pray for random Zambians, so it’s very cool to experience the joy and appreciation they have for something so simple.
We’ve also done an activity that I have grown to love- prayer walking. J-Zone, the mission group we are serving, has many different projects going to serve others and spreading the good word of Jesus Christ. Many of their projects are on the cusp of taking off, so we’ve gone to all the sites and just walked the property to pray. Pray for blessings, pray for developments, praying for whatever God has placed on your heart. Without the distractions we’ve all grown accustomed to in the States, the power of a simple prayer to God is so much more clear to see.
So many lives have been changed already, including my own, and it’s only been a week. I hope to post at least 2 more times before we leave as wifi is hard to come by, but without phones or outside distractions, hearing God and what he wants from us is as simple as closing your eyes and breathing.
Prayer is powerful, and it’s force is prevalent in Livingstone. Pray for listening, pray for the courage and wisdom to speak his word.
Thanks and talk to you all soon!
