Slamming Doors

Life is cool.

I’m utterly amazed, immensly thankful, and incredibly proud to say:

I’ve bravely ridden, and shamefully fallen off, a Costa Rican horse. I’ve aimlessly walked the bustling streets of Madrid. I’ve spent 9 hours in Morocco.

I’ve surfed epic swells in the Dominican Republic. I’ve seen incomprehensible poverty in Haiti. I’ve traveled through 6 European countries with my grandmother.

I’ve witnessed God in a Khmer child’s bright smile. I’ve picked pesky weeds in Thailand.

And, in January, I’m flying to Ecuador to pursue my dreams of becoming a veterinarian.

Correction. I was flying to Ecuador.

After persistent prayer, a prolonged battle between a doubtful spirit and selfish desire, and tremendously failing to fundraise (with only myself to blame), I’ve ultimately chosen to cancel my upcoming internship.

*Kaya Responsible Travel is a patient, respectable, and ultimately remarkable program. I would highly recommend them if you wish to pursue an internship abroad.*

However, the Lord has called me elsewhere.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

I’m beyond excited to announce that…

A door has been opened for me to serve in Colombia!

I’ve been invited to aid in kickstarting a non-profit organization in San Pedro, Columbia. “La Loba Linda” (The Pretty Wolf) will rescue and rehabilitate stray and abused animals living in and around Medellín. The rehabilitated animals will undergo extensive therapy service training to carry out OAF’s mission.

OAF (Open Arms Foundation) is a Christian organization concentrated on rescuing young boys from physically, and sexually, abusive circumstances. The therapy animals will resocialize the distraught boys, and reintroduce them to the broken concept of compassion.

I will be given the opportunity to endorse “La Loba Linda”, partner alongside local animal-rights activists, and coordinate major projects such as construction of an official kennel in the organziation’s name.

In addition to logistical responsibilities, I will be expected to deliver hands-on care for the recovering animals. Thus, I will be training, resocialzing, and caring for any of the animals’ medical needs.

As I desperately prayed for the funds to intern abroad, the Lord was patiently paving the way for a more glorifying ministry opportunity.

Now, I’ve been asked to raise $3,000. This money will include plane fare, accommodation, food, and transportation. (I’ve raised almost $1,000)

Wanna hear more? I’d love to talk your ear off! I return to the U.S. in two weeks, and I’d be more than willing to meet up and discuss my upcoming journey.

Prayerfully considering financially supporting me? Thank you! There is a link to the left that reads “Donate”, just click it and follow the directions.
