Short update from Swaziland

This is the first blog update I’ve made since being here in Swaziland due to little access to wifi. No Wi-Fi is challenging but beneficial in growing to have a closer relationship with the Lord and focusing on him and him alone. Since getting to Swazi 3 weeks ago I’ve gotten to experience a culture that is so rich in love and character, both on and off the field. The team of women I get to do this with have blessed me incredibly and continue to do so everyday. They are constantly encouraging and pulling the best out of me, I love having community with Jesus as the foundation.
One of my favorite things about being here in Swaziland and obviously a big reason we came here has been reaching out to the locals and sharing Jesus with them in different ways. Day to day ministry could mean spending lots of time with kids and playing hours upon hours, going home to home and serving in any way or sitting at a desk all day doing paperwork. My favorite encounters have taken place while doing home visits. There is such a hunger here in Swazi for the word of God, so most times when we ask if theres anything we can do, they ask us to read scripture. Through that God has been showing me that the smallest things are ministry and we are always serving him, in everything we do. ‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not human masters.’ (Colossians 3:23) We see so little of the big picture that’s constantly being formed and put together by the Creator.
God is constantly exceeding all my expectations I had about this trip to Swaziland and South Africa in the most amazing ways. He is continuously pursuing my heart and loving on me through the people I meet in the community and friends I’ve gotten close to in a short amount of time. It’s crazy that we only have a week left here in Nsoko Swaziland and then we head to Jeffreys Bay, South Africa for the month of July!
And last but not least, I’ll mention that having 14 women and what seems to be an endless population of mice under the same roof has been intresting. (We caught and killed 7 last night within an hour)
Hopefully I can update again soon, thanks for reading!    -Sandra J
