In the most unexpected places

So I’m sure you all are looking for a “God moment” in Peru, since am I on the mission field here. First of all, Peru is amazing & I’m excited for what the Lord has in store for the next few weeks. But, this first blog post is going to be about someone I met on the plane on my way to Lima. The leaders at training camp kept saying how the person we could impact could be the person on the airplane to or from your mission field. Guess this is true. We all had assigned seats, so as you know the flight is usually full. Before we took off I noticed the very back row had no one in it so I kindly asked the flight attendant if I could sit there & he said yes, so I grabbed all of my belongings and moved. You bet I was so excited to have all three seats to myself. No one to sit by & I could sleep the entire time. About 10 minutes after sitting there waiting for fuel, a guy came and asked if he could sit next to me. At first I hesitated because I was really pumped to have it all alone, but then before I even said a word, he said that he had a headache and saw this seat was open. So… I said yes. A few minutes after takeoff he asked the basic “get to know you” questions. I found out his name was Kenny because his jacket said Kenny…literally. & he just graduated high school, just as I did. He went on to ask why I was coming to Peru & I told him a mission trip. He said “what is a mission trip?” I went on to tell him and come to find out, he “believed” in Jesus but didn’t know and follow Him. He believed in the Big Bang but was so interested in Christianity (at least I got that vibe) that we talked for 2 hours, I repeat 2 HOURS about a Christ!!!!! At training camp I grew deeper in the understanding of the Holy Spirit and how to evangelize, how to dig deeper and help people understand the story of Jesus better. Before this flight I had never had to share the entire story one on one, with the answers at the top of my head aka the Lord providing them for me & me being able to speak truth. After him asking many many questions he said, “do you think the Holy Spirit gave me this headache to come sit by you, and have you tell me about Him?!” A guy who has NEVER opened a bible just asked me about the Holy Spirit!!! I was amazed & so overwhelmed with joy. The Lord literally challenged me even before I stepped foot in Peru, but isn’t that how God works, in unexpected but AMAZING ways!?! YES! Anyway, Kenny ended up asking me if he could write in my journal. He wrote “what a weird but pleasant surprise. I’ve learned so much in such a small amount of time. Blessed to have met you and thanks for teaching me about Jesus and Christianity, it’s seriously is something very beautiful and awesome. Have fun on your mission and have fun impacting lives all around the globe” SO GOOD! If that doesn’t give you chills, then what does??? God is SO good & He opened my eyes to always being a missionary and evangelist to everyone I meet. I don’t have to be in a different country to fully surrender myself to serving His people, but always being willing to surrender everything I have and give it to the Lord. And also always being open to the Holy Spirit.
