Here in the small province of Banteay Meanchey, Cambodia we have experienced,
No Wi-Fi
Cold Showers
No flushing toilets
No beds
Bugs EVERYWHERE
Sweating constantly
No A/C
Rice 3 times a day, EVERY day
Things that all may seem tragic, or horrible, when living in a 1st world environment with a materialistic mindset, but something I have come to find so BEAUTIFUL when living with a kingdom mindset in a third world environment. Although I have experienced all of my worldly comforts taken away, I have been able to experienced JESUS in a new way,here in the small province of Banteay Meanchey.
In embracing that reality, and switching to a kingdom mindset, my views of comfort have changed. We are here to show these children the love of our heavenly father. These children who, in turn, are teaching me more about the character of Jesus everyday. This environment is the reality for these children daily. Yet they have so much joy and faith in the simple life, and that has been such an encouragement to my team and I.
I don’t need wifi, or a hot shower, or A/C to be fulfilled, I simply need Jesus, and in relying on him to be my comfort I have been blessed with experiencing the BEAUTY there is, in living a life of SIMPLICITY.
