Wrapped In His Love

Today I sat on a dock, surrounded by friends I met just two weeks ago. We sat laughing, sharing our hopes and dreams, and reflecting on how God has grown us through our struggles. After looking in the eyes of my sisters in Christ and seeing the image of God reflected in their experiences and beauty, I raised my eyes to an equally breathtaking view.    Volcanic mountains wrapped around me. There was no way out, no place to run where they ceased to tower over me. I felt an overwhelming sense of safety and peace. The scene reminded me of God’s love. He wraps His arms around me...

The Cemetery

The cemetery here in Chichi is so colorful and is unlike anything I have ever seen. It has the ability to make you feel a bit joyful. NO WIFI, NO PROBLEM

WOW…These past two weeks here in Chichicastenango have flown by but also been very long! I feel like I have known my brothers and sisters in Christ on my team for years, though we’ve only been together a short time. To be honest, I feel at home here, but don’t worry family and friends I’ll be back, at least for now. Haha. The bucket showers, sleeping on cement floor, and living in community with 26 others I’ve been good with. Though it’s taken a bit to get used to. A little bit about what I’ve been learning and what the Lord has been teaching...

Let’s do this!

Wow. I’m still in awe that I’m here in Chichi. How did I raise enough money to get here? How did I take a month off of work? How did I leave my precious kitten?? All I know is I’m so happy I did! I’ve been on two short term mission trips out of the country, but Chichicastenango feels like home. I feel like I know the community, I know the places to go to drink coffee, I know how to get to the grocery store and my favorite street quesadilla place (seriously the best in the world) without asking, but yet I also feel like I have so much more to learn from the people of...
