The Voices in My Head

The Voices in My Head All of these voices that flood my head Are drowning my spirit Pulling me under til I’m emotionally dead My voice is focused on my hopes, dreams, and the things I want. But it all exhausts me from thinking too much My voice says “Perform! Then you’ll be good enough.” But it leaves me feeling empty, dissatisfied, and unloved. The enemies voice is easy to recognize. It’s condemnation, fear, and ridiculous lies! It knocks you down, and you can’t get back up Because the lies make you feel like you are not enough It steals your voice,...

Brutal Awakening

I awoke from a seven hour van ride to the children of the orphanage waiting on the other side of the door ready to take my luggage to the guest house. How are orphans joyful enough to serve me? I couldn’t talk because I didn’t want everyone to know that I was on the verge of crying. Its one thing to know that there are orphans struggling in a third world country, but to see them with my own eyes and be with them as they cheerfully served me, was a foreign feeling that put a funny feeling in my throat. The Waves

This past week was our second full week of ministry here in India. We are spending our first two and a half weeks in India in a small village called Sielmat. While we are here, we are staying in a seminary. When we first arrived, the dean requested that we take two of the daily morning devotions during the two and a half weeks that we are staying here. That includes providing the worship and message for those mornings. The first morning that we were responsible for was late last week. One of my teammates picked the song ‘Oceans’ for us to sing. That morning, as we were running...

Finding a Father

Recently I found myself mourning the absence of a father figure in my life. I know the healing powers of the Lord, so I brought my wounded heart to Him. I felt Him mourn with me over the lack of relationship I have with my father; but despite feeling less alone, my heart was not healing. The Holy Spirit met me throughout training camp — He showed me the image of God as Father and this started a process of healing. On Friday, September 8th, we arrived at the New Hope for Orphans home in Banteay Meanchey, Cambodia. In the middle of a jungle, three hours away from any “major...
