Ministry Rundown

On October 2, my team departed from Kampong Cham, Cambodia. It was a bittersweet moment; filled with the expected sorrows of any goodbye. We tearfully hugged those we served, painfully aware that we may not see their precious smiles, or experience their unconditional joy, until we are reunited in heaven. There were tears. There were A LOT of tears. In an attempt to acknowledge the amazing, incredible, praiseworthy ways in which the Lord overflowed into this month, I’ve organized a ministry schedule. A ministry rundown… 8:00 AM – Breakfast Depending on the day, breakfast...

Sick Enough to Pray

I am sick for the fourth time since leaving Georgia. The first time was food poisoning the first day arriving at our ministry site, talk about brutal awakening. Food poisoning and a squatty potty don’t mix well. The second time I got a 24 hour bug, and of course it was on the last day with our students. So if you don’t see any pictures of me with the kids in our classes, it’s because I was busy trying to keep water down. The third time, we arrived in Bangkok and I got a little too excited about dairy. My bad. Luckly that one only lasted a night. And now Im out with a...

A moment

Sometimes all it takes to remind me who God really is comes from a moment. That moment could be a smile from a stranger, it could be a hard question asked from a friend, it could be the sound of a heartbeat in silence, it could be anything really. I’ve come to realize that a moment has the freedom and power to make us pause, take a step into an eternal birds eye view to let whatever is separating us from God shatter before us. For me a moment happened recently. It was my team and I’s last night in Cambodia with the kids we had now come to call our beloved friends and we were...

Mended

I sat down on a broken bus seat and my world changed once again. Life as I had known it for the past month was coming to a halt. I became overwhelmed with emotions at the thought of not returning to the village. I fell so in love with the community and atmosphere, it literally shattered my heart to leave. There are no words to describe how it felt to say good bye. There’s no way to describe how it feels to look an orphan in the face, tell them you love them and then leave them (again). It hurts. It hurts so badly. Whereas the pain is so real, I’m beyond thankful for the...

Lukewarm: only moderately warm; tepid

I know I have left you all in the dark this past month, but I didn’t know how to translate all of these experiences and emotions into words. For a better explanation… it’s been a roller coaster.   For all that don’t know, I felt a push to follow the Lord to Macedonia. At first it was a small tug and I honestly I didn’t understand why this would be something the Lord would call ME into. But then it became a reality when I arrived a month ago. I wanted to learn how to give it ALL to God. So buckle up friends, we’re about to go on a journey.   But...
