The travel day poops…

Starting the travel day off ?around 6:30am? was pretty easy. We had breakfast, grilled cheese and potatoes with a side of milk tea, and said our goodbyes. We only had one truck, 14 people and about 11 bags to take down the mountain to the river. We were cramped up together, but we had the best time! Someone asked me to commentate the ride so I stood up the entire time to make sure I saw something that I could comment on. It was honestly one of the funniest things I’ve ever done; I loved it. We got to the river and I realized that I had to go to the bathroom. Other girls did too so we...

Not for Sale

Two weeks time have come and gone since my team and I arrived in Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand where we were welcomed into the ministry, fellowship, home and hospitality of the little but generous church called New Beginnings. Amongst the three bible studies, Sunday morning church service, and Thursday night volleyball ministry we participate in throughout each week, our other main purpose is bar ministry in the afternoon and night time. What that tangibly looks like is just simply having conversations- with those people (mainly tourists) who we sit beside and the women and men who work at...

Telling Untold Stories

I want to introduce you to a friend of mine. For the sake of this blog, I’ll call her Zoey. This girl is amazing. She is a tenth grader living at Lungthulien high school where I met her. I got to spend the last 3 weeks getting to know her and fellowshipping with her. Zoey has one of the most joyful, genuine smiles I have ever seen. She is an incredibly loving, talkative person, and she likes to sing. Her favorite subject in school is biology, and she has a passion for helping others, so she wants to be a nurse some day.          ...

Eat, Pray, Love: Missionary Edition

I am spoiled. So. So. So spoiled. I anticipate routine. I admire the scent of clean laundry. I adore hot, pressured showers. And I appreciate a real bed. Last month, each comfort was plucked from me, one-by-one. Routine was not in Khmer vocabulary. The cleanliness of my clothing was determined by how thoroughly I scrubbed them. “Showers” were… manual. And my bed was a thin, inflatable sleeping pad. Cambodia blessed me with patience, contentment, and deep appreciation for simple, overlooked luxiuries, and for that, I am forever grateful. Nonetheless, debrief was bliss. For...
