a father’s love

currently writing this from the sky, a 14 hour flight to qatar. I sit and listen to all the different languages all surrounding me, I can only think about one thing. love is universal. It can be seen and felt with no boundaries. everyone can give and everyone can receive. our father gives us so much love, not so much in words , but in actions.  whenever i fly I can never seem to stop thinking about God’s creations. right as our plane broke the barrier into the clouds, I noticed the child in the row next to me, and his father seated at the window seat. the child pointed and gazed...

Intimacy with the Holy Spirit

Hello all and welcome to my mission trip blog page! I’ll be posting on this periodically throughout my trip as a way to share what’s happening. I am currently on a plane to Costa Rica to begin my journey in country. Some blogs will just be pictures, some will be about service projects and mission work, and others will be about what God is teaching me and my team. Before we left for country, we spent time at training camp in Georgia preparing our hearts and minds for the mission field. The sessions, activities, and worship we participated in amplified our hearts for Jesus and His...

Identity Crisis

I arrived at training camp Thursday afternoon, nervous, anxious, excited to see what God had in store for my team and I during the next few days of intense learning and understanding each other.    I had been praying for my team to be loving, growing, honest, kind, uplifting, real, and more than anything else: unified. I knew that I was going to go into this trip with a lot of doubts about myself and my ability to do ministry well. I fear large groups of people that I don’t know because I have a hard time opening up. I fear not being seen or heard – not because I am...

Are you crazy?

I know what you’re thinking! Why would anyone in their right mind leave their family and friends to fly across the world to a third world country to give up their whole summer? Why spend so much money to do work and serve other people? Why give up comfort and ease for hardship? I’m glad you asked. There is actually a very specific reason I am where I am right now. His name is Jesus. The reason I’ve chosen dirt floors over my bed, fried insects over in-n-out, and strangers over my family and friends all is because of Jesus. Now I know what you’re thinking? Why is...

What is God’s Love?

I used to think that “Of course, God would save humanity. There are billions of souls. Why would He not save us?” But OH, How ignorant a thought! How foolish and self-serving! How PRIDEFUL! I was to think that I, a worthless, microscopic sinner, was worthy of God’s time, much less the Sacrifice of His Son. I now realize that God could have with one word wiped out the earth, moon, stars, and us, then restarted with perfect humans. But He did not, because that is not like Him. He is MERCIFUL! WE EXIST BECAUSE HE LOVES! HE IS BECAUSE HE LOVES. THAT IS HIM. He created the...

Time Flies By When Serving Jesus

As we are wrapping up our 3 months in Africa, I am blown away by how fast time flew by. This experience has been unreal and just about unexplainable! As I think back to Zambia, I remember the first week, when I would cry everyday and wonder what I was doing across the world – away from my family, my comforts, my regular everyday life that I was pretty content with. Now I was living with 12 girls I didn’t know, in a house with lizards, no doors to our rooms, never a guarantee of running water, and when the rain would come … well, you had to scream to hear each other! I...
