The real, messy faith.

So, here I am, stuck in an airport, awaiting six hours to board my rebooked flight. Soon, I will get on a plane and fly back to where it all started: Atlanta. So, while I am waiting, I have decided use this time for good, and share a little bit about my month that I was to busy to actually update people on.  So what exactly have I learned within the last month? I mean, I can’t really pin down every single thing I did learn, but I can tell you that I have learned a lot. How to listen. How to follow. But most importantly, how to really have faith. Because faith is a word that...

For This Reason

‘For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and earth is named, that according to the riches of glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith – that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more...

Messy Plans

Well, here I am, nearly one month after I left home. This trip may be coming to an end, but I can definitively say that I believe my trip is just beginning. I’d never been on a mission trip before coming here. While some people were really excited for me, others thought that I was crazy to leave on a one-month journey with people I had never met in my entire life. an extraordinary god in an ordinary world

I am currently writing this with 2 boys on each side of me, with their heads rested on my shoulders. 2 very different boys with 2 very different personalities; but both show love. In different ways. Yuri shows me love in your typical affectionate, holding my hand at all times, kind of love. Panut shows me love by telling me jokes and giving me shoulder massages. What a guy!!!! My time here in Cambodia has been filled with children around us pretty much 24/7. Some are outgoing, some are shy, some like games, and some like to just be held. Love does not fit in a box and does not have to look...

The Last Supper

At training camp I was deep in prayer… we were praying over one another and building each other up with the words the Lord gave to us. Suddenly I heard the sound of digging… at first I could only see rocks and a little mud, it was like I was zoomed in on a camera… the vision started getting bigger and I could vividly see a man shoveling and I was helping him. It didn’t make sense. I asked God, “what does this mean?” He told me to “wait and see.” Fast forward a couple of weeks. The culture here is very “pura vida..” very...
