Luksaw (“Daughter”)

“Daughter”. That is what He calls me.   Self image issues are something I have wrestled with a lot over the past year. I used to find all of my worth in what I looked like. Working out and cutting back foods to an unhealthy point. Doing whatever it would take to look “thin and beautiful”. Obsessing over fitting into the stereotypical mold of what society says “beauty” is. Comparing myself and my body to others on social media who I considered to be physically flawless. Criticizing my body and picking out the “flaws” every time I...

Looking to the Unseen

When I look at people, I see their faces.  I am good at remembering the faces.  I see the smiles or I see the lack thereof.  I see the spark in their eye and I see when their smile sometimes does not reach their eyes.  I know people by their face.  I remember what I see on their face, but I often forget to see beyond the face.  I tend to regard people by what I see in front of me, but I forget to consider what is behind the face. You bring light to the darkness

Let this day, June 22; go down as a day that wreaked me like never before. We sit as a team in our little church/home to debrief: all on the verge of tears. Sadness and confusion are the words I use to describe my emotions. Just before this moment we walked home silent on the dark beach hopelessly trying to process what our eyes have just seen. Tonight was a night we all felt specifically called to do. Tonight we walked on a road clearly claimed by the devil to bring our sprit of God and pray. Bangla Road is the heart of our town, Patong Beach. Walking down this road in the day when it was...
