What to expect when everything is unexpected

We as a team have had quite the journey this last month in Thailand! Starting with learning all the cultural differences and getting adjusted, then having to change leaders only a week and a half in to the trip (Hi! I’m Allison!), ministry not being quite what we expected, and then having to change ministries very last minute… Let me tell you, it has been quite the ride so far for these guys. But we are seeing God move in a ton of ways now that we are back in Mae Sot and helping out with Outpour ministries again.  The great thing about everything being so sudden and...

Week 1

This post is from week one. Sorry for the tardiness. Enjoy 🙂 I already know I will miss the sunset here. From the pavilion, we are just above the lake. You can see the mainland and small mountains across the lake and often there are small fishing boats crossing back and forth. Washing Hands in Nicaragua

In the Bible, Jesus washed his disciple’s feet, demonstrating the humility and servitude we too should exhibit. Before this week, I thought that example was simply to show how Jesus put others before himself. I didn’t realize that the act of serving others in such a simple way can mean much more.I was able to experience this on Friday. The wife of the pastor at the church CICRIN attends came on Thursday night to tell us her story and ask us if we would help with her ministry the next day called Helping Hands which helps poor women on Ometepe in the name of Christ.Ruth began by...

Children’s ministry in San Jorge

Last week, we crossed the lake to the port town to help for a day with a children’s ministry. The church is a few minutes from port and had its beginnings as an outdoor concrete slab in a field but now has a roof, a kitchen, and an apartment in back where the pastor, Sara, and her daughter live. When we arrived, she served us lemonade and told us her life story.Sara is the oldest of seven and before her mother became a Christian, Sara had to take care of her four younger siblings because her mother would disappear, sometimes for days, to drink and do drugs. Her father was absent but...
