Blisters, heartbreaking, and God moments.   Today being called a big day is a bit of an understatement. Today started with our first time working with the children’s ministry we are partnered with here in Mae Sot. We showed up after a nice bike ride to play soccer with a large number of kids. Well, it has been a trip to really try and wrap your mind around. The craziness and peace of this trip is really incredible, and all glory to God for that. Quick update for the craziness:We had a leader change happen our 2nd week in Thailand. Prayers for our amazing original leader as he had to return home for some spiritual healing in his life.Had a finger smashed with a hammer and was afraid of it being broken (all is good, healing fine)We moved to another city where we were supposed to stay for 5 weeks or so, but got run out by some government officer wanting a bribe or he would cause...

There is a quote from James Cameron’s Avatar movie that has always resonated with me. After being captured by the native Omaticaya clan, the protagonist (Jake Sully) is brought to the clan’s leaders for judgement. They ask why he has come. He tells them he came to learn their way of life. The t’sahik, their spiritual leader, replies that the Omaticaya have tried to teach many ‘Sky people’ like Jake before, but were unsuccessful. The entrance of Bangla Road, Patong’s Red Light District. The first few weeks in Patong, I started to wonder if all I was going to be doing was praying. We walk the streets of Patong several times a week. We stop at massage parlors (hubs for prostitution) and small shops asking friends and strangers if they need prayer. We listen to their requests, gather around and lay hands on them, lifting them up to God. We stand at the beginning of Bangla Road, Soy Empson, and other streets hosting prostitution and darkness. We as a team have had quite the journey this last month in Thailand! Starting with learning all the cultural differences and getting adjusted, then having to change leaders only a week and a half in to the trip (Hi! I’m Allison!), ministry not being quite what we expected, and then having to change ministries very last minute… Let me tell you, it has been quite the ride so far for these guys.
