Through It All

The past week has flown by. In the moment, it has been difficult to recognize where God was working. Though I knew God was present, it was taking a little more effort on my part to seek Him. Only through my recent reflection and quiet time have I been able to see a revelation in how God has been working over the course of my entire trip. God has managed to change my heart and open my eyes. Let me preface this by saying that I have had a wonderful time in my ministry in Costa Rica. I have learned to seek the glory of God no matter where I was. Most of my ministry was a joy but some I...

Good things come to those who wait

One of my teammates is extremely gifted in being able to communicate with the people here and it is very encouraging to watch her interact with others. On this particular day though my impatience got the...

Spiritual Warfare

So, I have sat down many times to try and write a blog post but couldn’t think of anything that needed to be said. The Lord is faithful and I just asked him what needed to be said.  It’s our first official day in Nicaragua and everything is exciting and new. The moment we got to the orphanage CICRN, I could feel the spiritual warfare that was happening over this place. There was a heaviness in the air that did not seem to let up. We sat down for some team time and were discussing what we would be doing, but then our team leaders discussed spiritual warfare with us. The...

I’m not the perfect Christian

Sometimes when you go on missions, there’s a certain expectation of you. That you’re the perfect Christian.  You better be posting pictures of the underfed Children you’re serving. You should tell stories of all the lives you changed. You’re now more in tune with the Holy Spirit and your direction in life. You’ll come back and only use the necessities of life. You should be able to quote Bible verses (a lot of them). You should be able to count (and it better be a big number) the number of people who have accepted Jesus in front of you. You never act out...
