A Common Theme

Over the past month I have listened to my teammates and taken most of their words with an open heart and mind. It is through these people that I have heard some of the most encouraging things and truly have seen God work through them. I say this because some of my words in this particular post were first heard through them.

As Christians we have two jobs:

To love God

To love people

Here in this place all I have felt, everyday, even in the early mornings and late nights is love. As I reflect on the days that have come and gone I am happy to say that in every step I have taken, love was there. From countless hugs and smiles on the street, to conversations that show no languages barrier, if there is one word to describe the culture here its through that simple word.

Matthew 28: 19 Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Our command from God is this, and here in Costa Rica we have succeeded. I am so thankful for this journey that I have taken. Thankful for this opportunity to walk with my Creator and see his beauty. There is beauty in the nature here and beauty in the eyes of the people. Some may ask me if I am ready to go home, my answer is this,

“My work here in Costa Rica is done for now but his doesn’t mean I won’t return. I am ready to take what I have learned here and spread the love that I have been consumed in to my people at home. My heart will always have a special place for this country.”

I challenge everyone to Love others so radically they wonder why.

1 John 4:16 God himself is the best definition of love. If we truly know God, we will understand what true love is all about. Love is Jesus dying for us. Love is helping others. Because God loves us, we show love to others.

Trip Update: The days are short here in Costa Rica, full of goodbyes and tears of joy. So many relationships have been built and God has worked through so many people. I am happy to say that I am one of those people. We travel home tomorrow and then we take a day to debrief in Atlanta, GA. I will be home to Wisconsin on the 1st, if you are looking to see me please message me and I will try to work in conversation time into my schedule. Keep safe travels in your prayers!
