The Least of These

It was so exciting to be a part of what happened at the village on Tuesday. It’s one of the ministries where we aren’t too sure what will be happening each week, besides that we’ll be spending time with people there. The village is a refreshing atmosphere, about an hour and a half ride out beyond Korat. The stars are so bright when we take the song-tao back to the city.
This week was similar to last and the village ladies cooked us (an always-filling) dinner. In the evenings we gather for worship and a Bible teaching.
After dinner, our host, Yoyo, shared some exciting news. Sunday he had asked the church to pray for a “house” for him, and I thought he meant for their family. Turns out Yoyo and his wife Aon were planning to start a church based out of the village ministry, and he was so excited to share that God had provided a building for them. He said we would get to be part of the remodeling and preparing for their new church meeting place.

The thing that was beautiful to see was Yoyo and Aon’s total commitment to this new church. They were alive with joy and passion for the work God is doing in this village. Their church will consist of two couples and four or five old women whose ages average around 75. The women are so quiet but committed, and Yoyo spoke to them of how they are the beginning. The church is in their hands; they are the leaders and foundation, they will be responsible to provide funding and to be faithful members. The old women are the only believers in the village. I was amazed at the joy and faith that filled that moment on Tuesday, and the complete assurance that God was leading each step. Yoyo’s dream is coming true and we are honored to be here at the beginning of this ministry that is sure to grow and become something beautiful. The kingdom mission in this village starts with these few, and there’s no stopping the impact it will have as “the least of these” step out in obedience.

“For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are.”
??1 Corinthians? ?1:26-28?
