India was something I’ve never experienced before. Probably because I’ve never been to India before June and probably because I had no idea what to expect. But none the less, India was something else.
India was hard. India was dark. India was hurting. India was full of things you expect as a missionary but are never really prepared for.
Like people who don’t get it. Like those who think we’ll save them, rather than introduce a savior. Like families who believe they have to wait for another team to be blessed again and mothers who don’t understand that she can pray for healing just as much as we can.
Like never feeling like you’re doing anything. Like never having enough words or the right prayers. Like there’s not enough time to show all the love you have.
I mean, this is the real stuff and not even half of it. You don’t go out and get a revival every time. You just don’t. Sometimes you have to trust that the Lord is doing the things you can’t.
But.
India was also full. India was colorful. India was laughter and growth. India was smiles and head bobbles and dancing. India was kisses and singing and spicy. India was all the things you expect as a missionary but are never really prepared for.
Like those who get it. Like those who have no comfort outside of Jesus. Like those who have given up everything to minister in India. Like the families that invite us into the home. Like the fathers leading their children.
Like the little girls blowing kisses as you walk away. Like the excitement of the orphans, knowing Jesus is their ultimate pappa. Like the women dancing to “Shake It Off.” Like the family that took us into their home and poured all their love on us.
I mean, this is the real stuff and not even half of it. You don’t go out and get a revival everytime. But maybe that’s okay. The Lord is doing the things we can’t.
In His perfect timing, all will know Him. If I can be in any part of that, it’s worth it. If any amount of my time spent out here is pointing someone to a life spent eternally with the Father, it will be worth it.
