Waterpark Fun

Over the past week my team and I have been working on fundraising to provide the orphans at New Hope Orphanage in Kampong Cham a day at the waterpark as well as uniforms for a summer camp they get to go to in August. The Lord provided and we were able to take the children and staff (almost 60 people) to a waterpark in Phnom Penh this past Sunday.

All of the children had never been to a waterpark. It was so much fun to see their faces as they had fun in the pool and on the slides. Here are just a few of the pictures from that day:

A bunch of us made a giant chain in the water and floated around the lazy river on tubes. We went around twice, each time adding more and more people some who we didn’t even know! A few of the kids were too bored to sit and relax so they started hopping from tube to tube down the chain.

From left to right, this is me, Nit, Noch, Nary, and Theara. I rode down the slide with Nit and Noch about 5 times straight because it was so much fun to hear them scream and laugh.

This is my man Chana who’s been my buddy for a few weeks now. He is always willing to give me a hug, hold my hand, or just cuddle with me. Chana and a few others at the orphanage have shown me how affectionate the Khmer people are.

This picture originally started with five people, but when someone tries to take a picture with these children more and more of them come to join in. I love seeing the joy on everyone’s faces in this picture. I think it captures beautifully how fun the day was.

God is so good! We are only $100 away from being fully fundraised and able to provide these children with uniforms for their summer camp. This camp only happens once every two years. All of the New Hope orphanages come together for this camp. During camp the kids have a dance competition and their house parent would love for the children to all have matching uniforms for it.
