A calling of $50,000 : A God worth it all

After finally finding some wifi, I’m here to tell you why I gave up two free years of college to live three months of my life in Guatemala. I’ve felt the calling for missions for some time now but it really struck me hard when I went on my first trip to Nicaragua. I fell so deeply in love with God during that week.

My home state of Tennessee allows any high school graduate to attend a community college or trade school for two years free. I was in my senior year of high school when I went to Nicaragua. Shortly there after I applied to the World Race Gap Year.

I was met with a few disappointments of not being able to raise $5000 and with not having the full support of some people really close to me. I was switched to a shorter trip, the one I’m currently on. I was already enrolled in my first semester of college and I sent in an appeal form only to be told “We don’t have time to review or  appeal your request.”

Giving up something so many people would love to have was actually very hard. I prayed and prayed and prayed for a sign that is was something God wanted me to do. And here I am, sitting on the streets of Chichicastenango and i wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!
