POEM: I Have a Demon Named Miss Grumpy Pants…

I know when she is coming to the surface, but in war with my flesh I don’t stop her because in some ways I like the way she handles the situation. Or maybe its not the way she handles this situation and instead the results she gets.
When she “handles” a situation many times she hurts people and at the bare minimum she scares people. She gets what she “wants”, but that is not right because she gets things that she doesn’t want either. She doesn’t want to scare or hurt people… if I understand her correctly.

The truth is she wants to protect something…

And when Miss Grumpy Pants comes out she is a master at protection!

Her results are flawless as puts a boundary around herself that makes her feel secure! She is protected from hate that manifests in judgmental states, glaring eyes, prying questions, crude comments, and physical offenses. She is protected from expectations and the constraints that seemingly shield everyone else from pain while she is forced to take on the hurt that is left behind. She is protected from the fear of what comes next! Oh, the things the mind can imagine will come next!

But are you really protected Miss Grumpy Pants?

From what I can see you are in an endless cycle of doom and destruction. I know that you have been told that you can fight fire with fire, but how does that end the war? All that fire has only burned the town down with you in it! No, fire cannot be fought with fire. Fire is fought with water. Water douses and puts end to a flame.

Miss Grumpy Pants, I am glad you agree with that analogy because I have a question for you…

Why are you trying to fight fear with fear?

Your fear of being hurt does not stop you from being hurt nor from hurting others for that matter. Your fear does not make you secure, shield you from the way people treat you, or teach them how to love you or see you in a different light. You just chose to make things worse for the extremely temporary pleasure of putting off the pain until another time.

No, fear cannot be fought by fear.

Fear can only be cast out by perfect love.

“Such love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love.” 1 John 4:18

So, let me love you.

Let me remind you that there is nothing you can do to make me love you less! Miss Grumpy Pants you are not a demon. You are my child being tested today. The immature humanity in you today has failed, but my dear child I knew that today would not be the day you succeed at this test.

But Papa! Then… You set me up to fail?!? Why?!?

Because if you only do what you can do, you will never be more than you are now!

But it was hard to get to where I am now! It hurt and I have the bumps to prove it! And I like who I am now; you have already grown me so much! Look I’m a real Christian!

Do you even know what it means to be a Christian?!?

Yeah! It’s going around the world making disciples of all nations, playing with the slum kids, spreading your love and stuff.

You really think that is all I have for you?!? I am the Great I AM and as much as I want you to enjoy life I have a much greater purpose for you! In a way the world will never understand, I have created you with immense power. Power that you yet have the strength or understanding to wield. Power beyond your imagination; MY power lives in you. And I want you to unleash it, but in order for that to happen, Miss Grumpy Pants aka my child, my beloved child, you must grow and experience how much I love you, and learn to walk as the heir I created you to be.

Miss Grumpy Pants, don’t fret!

You are far from a demon… You are simply my child in a growth spurt!
