Comfort?!

Hey, hey everyone! Well we made it to Cambodia on September 5th in the afternoon. After leaving Georgia on September 3rd at 7:00pm then flying for 13 and half hours, we had our first layover in Doha and flew for another 7 hours to Bangkok then our last flight to Siem Reip Cambodia! We then drove 4 hours to Kampong Cham to our 1st destination for the next month. We met the kids right away, and feel in love in a blink.
Today is our 4th day and our love only grew stronger!

We all know the word comfort. It could be as simply as being sweaty and can hop in the shower and change the temperature. Or having a nice fluffy bed, or being surrounded by people and places you know. But not many people knows what it really means to get out of there comfort zone. I shower with a bucket that I fill with water, and pour water over my head with a cup. There’s lizards and spiders the size of my hand in there and the bathroom. The bathroom is a toilet bowl, but to flush we have to scoop water into the bowl. Our beds our self- inflatable bed, with a sleeping bag and a net hovering over and around me so I don’t get bite at night. The food always has rice, and usually some sort of mystery meat. My room has a cockroach, but after a long talk we have come to an understanding that I wont bother him and he won’t bother me. God doesn’t call us to be comfortable. He calls us to love, and tell the world about him.

“Take the news of his glory to the lost, News of his wonders to one and all” Psalms 96:3

I’ve know my team for about a week and together we have come together to love each and everyone of those kids. My team has become my comfort. I’m excited to see what this place has to teach me.
